There's several Seagrapes in this area at the San Diego Zoo. The Palm in the background is Hyophorbe indica (Champagne palm). Photo taken July 25, 2017.

No, those belong to the many Hibiscus in this area.
The flowers are tiny and white and the fruit is purple in clusters like grapes, hence the name. The fruit is very good. It's used a lot in the tropics for jam, and many other culinary dishes. I'm not sure if I've ever seen one with fruit in San Diego. In Hawaii, where I'm from, it grows wild by the beaches. It can even grow into a very large tree in Hawaii. Here in San Diego it's very unlikely it would grow so large (maybe 15 ft tops), though.

Shame we don't have them here growing wild I use to love going harvesting even as a child . Bilberrys and Blackberry s we have here growing wild in Wales my mum use to pick the Bilberry s as child.
Wow they can grow very big then.

Seagrape is tropical. It really loves a very hot and humid tropical climate to grow well. Yes, it's potential height is very large.

Thank you Andy . A polly tunnel would be good to grow one in then.

Yes, this tree, shrub must have really warm to hot conditions. It doesn't do well in cool weather at all.

Is that low land as in the land is low or low land as in a poverty area.

Low-land tropics...means low elevations (tropics) typically close to the ocean.
