Bristol Balloon FestivalThought this one was coming in for toast and coffee

Gosh I remember them from when I used to live in Bristol. Think there was a Rupert the bear one, one year. I seem to remember that there was a factory in Bristol that made them?

Yes Cameron Balloons Manufacture many of the ones you see flying,they employ about 20 people making them

Thanks Brian, glad I remembered right. It was about 30 years ago that I 1st rented in Bedminster then bought my 1st house in Clevedon.

Green finger did go up in one many years ago but was not over impressed I think mainly because some months earlier I had tried paragliding off a speedboat in Cyprus and that was exhilarating.

That's a great photo! Paragliding? Not for me thanks I can't swim, but hot air ballooning? yes please.

Tom & I went up few years ago above the clouds over a mile high - it was amazing gliding silently, windless over flocks of birds.

They have a height limit well below mile high as they are on the flight path to Bristol international airport ,where they take off is only about five miles from the airport.

Our pilot did say it's not usual to go so high but he needed to find a current, he said we could now claim to have joined the mile high club...... so I did (some days later my son explained to me what that was, innocent that I am I hadn't realised it was a joke)

I think I saw this on TV Brian was there a very old one of the first hot air balloons there ? Ha ha Mari I hope you didn't go round telling too many people ...

No, Pamela, I can assure you we did not, I just unwittingly told everyone we knew that we had. No wonder I got some surprised looks.
