Thank you but a few years ago my avatar photo was of me standing in front of my Amaryllis when they flowered for the first time - not long after I joined GoY, if I remember rightly!

This photo was a selfie but I tried to get the Fuchsia 'Lady Boothby' in it more than myself. I took it to try & give an idea of just how high the plant had grown since planted out as a cutting about May time this year.

I also put the camera on auto-timer (10 seconds) I couldn't hold the camera & take the photo too at the same time so I put it on a pot on the balcony railing. I also chose a high zoom so as to get the plant in as well but in the end I came out better than the plant!

Its done great from a cutting.

Hello David ,its nice to see you , I would worry you might topple off the balcony after all that setting up to take the photo , just be careful :o)

No danger in that happening, Amy, we live on the ground floor! ? Anyway I had my back pressed hard against the window as I wanted the Fuchsia to come out more in the photo than me!

I only took the photo with me in it so as to draw a comparison of the Fuchsia to me. Now that's irrelevant, it's now taller than me!

This morning I had to get up on a chair as I wanted to tie it up so that a sudden gust of wind might not snap it.

Should have gotten a photo of that!!! ???

I'm glad to hear you're on the ground floor David but still don't like you standing on chairs its so easy to topple off ,take care !

No need to worry anyway as I take much care to make sure it's firmly "seated" on the floor & I take good care whenever I need to get up on it, too.
