This is one of my favorite bamboo. It's not a runner, but a clumper. It does grow pretty tall eventually, though. Photo taken on July 25, 2017 at the San Diego Zoo.

This one isn't very hardy. It's my favorite because it can stay manageable.

Oh that's sad I hope you never loose it as it's a beauty. Yes some plants are easier than others are nt they.

This one is at the San Diego Zoo. I don't have any Mexican Weeping bamboo. It's a very common bamboo here in San Diego. It's very hardy in all of the lower elevations of California.

It's good then for hardiness

It's a very beautiful and easy clumping bamboo. I don't have one, though. It may be hardy enough to be grown in the UK. It's hardy to 20ºF (-6ºC).

It would likely survive here then at -6 people hete are wary of putting Bamnoo of any kind in the ground fear it will run through their whole garden like one gsrden its happened to on here I dont yhink the gentleman comes on here any more he was the main gardener in Alnwick Garden s Northumberland.
I have a black stem Bamboo clump forming its in a large pot.?

Yes, I know. Bamboo can be very horrible to eradicate. It grows wild and it's impossible to stop. The clumping types are the best, as they don't run.

Yes I can imavine it would be a nightmare to get rid of it if you had one that runs. Clumping types do get wider and bigger though my garden is to small to even take that hence why it stays in a pot.

Yes, it does look very good in a pot.

This one in your photo would look great in a pot better than my black stem Bamboo.
