Aster linosyris - 2017

Aster linosyris - 2017 (Aster linosyris)

This was always an unlikely member of the aster family, and has now been renamed galatella linosyris. It is a rare British native, usually found on open, grassy habitats on sea-cliffs and rocky slopes - the best colony used to be on the Great Orme at Llandudno until the local council sprayed the area to reduce invasive cotoneaster there.
For well-drained soil in full sun, grows a couple of feet high.

Sue - there are currently ten suppliers listed on Plant Finder. I bought it from Beeches Nursery in Essex.

Just looked Andrew, Good list of plants on their website, pity too far to visit and mail order postage expensive, as all sent in pots.

Its very pretty ,I get angry when the councils start spraying Willy- Nilly without a thought for rarer plants ...

Amy - in this case, Llandudno Council waited until August, believing everything had already flowered. Unfortunately it wasn't the case with this plant. One can only assume their Biodiversity Officer was on holiday/not consulted/ incompetent.
