Thanks 3d... This lig has sat in the same spot for a few years now...perhaps it's time to divide the clump. It produces lots of seeds each year and last fall I threw the seeds into the stream. They spread downstream and I now have it's progeny in a few spots... along with watercress that I did the same thing to. It looks like the progeny are degenerate...they don't have the same redness but I'm thrilled they're there to hold the banks from erosion.
