There is one commercial coffee farm in California. Santa Barbara.
And one plant in the bay area..

Penny,
As far as I know all coffee cherries are edible. Never have tasted this one, though. It's probably sweeter than the red coffee cherries.

Stan,
Yes, I've read about the experimental Santa Barbara coffee orchard. Actually, San Diego has the best climate for coffee trees in California. However, the water and soil is not the best for coffee trees.

Next year ( or sooner),I'm moving mine again. Its too close to the Podocarpus tree's and they just suck up all the water in the yard. If I dont water it every single day,it wilts.3 days and it would probably die.
Put it into the Mango yard where its warmer and sunnier.

Penny,
I wasn't familiar with this yellow form of coffee tree until just a few years ago. This is the first time I've seen it in person. It seems to be more compact.

Stan,
Yes, coffee trees like a lot of water and acidic fertilizer to grow well. It likes the soil and the water up there so much better than here. It also likes the wetter winters.
