There is a novi belgii called Blauglut which looked similar, grows to 40cm, sounds about right.

So vibrant

So many of them, great Autumnal plants, hate the new name!

cute.. Does it have teardrop shaped basal leaves? It looks like the Ciliolate asters that I have. they're a drift of pinky mauve across the yard...blooming with the pink islands of oregano. If left they will grow to 2ft.+ but I cut them back in mid summer and they are about 9-10 inches tall with lots of blossom.

Dd, Oh gosh! Have Asters got a new name?
Lori, I will look for little whiskers tomorrow, if I remember!

Symphyotrichum is that the new name for all Asters, or just novae-angliae?

Little Whiskers!? I like that. I find changes like this make me feel even older than Methusela! I don't have much longer so I think I'll just stick to my old nomenclatures... who's going to care? ;-)

Thank you Lori, looked at the plant today, yes the leaves on the flowering stems are ciliate, although displaying shallowly cordate leaves on the basal rosette.
