After the photo Penny,I pruned off those worn banana leafs and the Mango now shows better. That particular variety of ornamental banana is from Ethiopian mountains. It hated the 108f day.
It wont grow in the deserts no matter how much you water it.

Your Nanana will benefit reducing the warn leaves I am sure. They likely dont like the desert soil and conditions Stan I did wondered if the Banana was taking the goodness from the Mango plant being so close.

The zoom pushes the closer together than it looks in person,Penny. But,When that banana flowers and dies...nothing that large will go behind the mango. I like the silhouette of that Mango..especially when those red leaves push out.
The Cycads are in pots..they can be moved here or there as the Mango grows.

Yes the Mango looks great especially the red leaves I also like your Banana. Thats good your Cycads are easily moved being in pots.

The mango must have loved the 108ºF weather! They tolerate that extremely hot weather very well. That's one tree which does very well in the desert...as long as it's not affected by cold.

Just think, in a few years it will much larger and full of a lot of big fruit. Mango trees produce bigger and much more fruit when larger and older.

I look at everything Mango on Google/YouTube. I think I get 3 years of Florida growth in 5 years in the bay area. So,not too bad. Once it becomes a tree it wont matter. The trunk is getting sizeable now also.

Nowadays Penny,only one month a year is dangerous- December..with some dribble into earliest January. Once that passes its just cool until spring.
We hit a cool period..not over 21C. Warmer by Sunday to the 27C range. I read that 28c is the perfect Mango growing temperature...something we sort of approach all summer.
Still not like the all year tropics. Best I can do is use what we have.

At lesdt it is just one month we have from now until May of frosts that we can have Stan I hope you can protect you Mango just through December. Ues you can only do what you van do to protect your Mango but I am sure if will be ok.

I think you're correct with the amount of growth on the mango trees. Probably some years you may get close to what they get in Florida. I know here we get a lot of grow some years and less in others. Although, it appears over the last 7 - 10 years I've been seeing exceptional growth on the mango trees and other exotic tropics here in San Diego.

I just discovered a house that has several huge Dypis species on the property. I think some are Dypsis madagascariensis. There's so many species and I can't id them very well.
