Samanea saman - Monkey Pod Tree

My Monkey pod tree is growing well in its pot. It has been in this pot for at least 3 years and is 5' (2.5 m) tall. This ultra-tropical tree grow to a gigantic tree in the tropics. Here in San Diego it'll most likely top out at 25 to 30 ft. Photo taken Sept. 12, 2017.

Yes, it will have to stay in a pot . It'll grow way too big for any small garden.

Someone here in San Diego kept one at around 10' ft tall with a lot of pruning. So, I guess it can be kept small if you want to continually prune it.

Yes I have to have some of mine pruned like my Bay tree it grew to nearly 20ft like a tree so I had it cut into a big standard like a ball shape it needs doing again . So yes your could grow it and just keep cutting it back 10ft would about right for you.

I've seen photos of them as a bonsai. They looks great! I would love for it to grow large...not enough room, though.
