Can't fault the name! The acer is beautiful too.

Lovely, I didn't realise they are Autumn flowering.

Late summer early autumn ,this is a bit late due to lack of sunshine smells gorgeous and what few butterfly's are left love it.

Thats a beauty and wonderful colours on your Acer.

I will watch for mine flowering now, then. Planted in shade, as that is the only place that does not dry out in a normal summer.

Fabulous plant, Brian! Did you miss spell its name? I think you dropped an "a". I found the same plant on the web & it's spelt "Actaea simplex".

I looked it up as I like the flower spike & wondered if I might be able to grow it on our balcony.

looked at the write up,I would defiantly say part shade the leaves get burnt in full sun,in my garden that is,grows alright in containers here but exhausts the soil in 2/3 years usually needs splitting by then anyway.

Yes, I read about the need for shade, Brian. I should be able to accommodate that as the interior of the balcony is shadier than the half further out due to being shaded by the roof of the balcony & also to the angle of the sun's rays.

Never been able to get this to flower.....it is in shade, perhaps too dry?
