It looks excellent! I should love the extra sunshine (since you cut back the sapote). I know sapote trees can grow very large.

I just noticed the trunk on the mango tree. It's pretty narrow. I think it's the trunk.

Its either triple trunked,or single with two that are very low branching. It needs all the foliage it can get,so Im not pruning anything off. The trunk/branch thats vertical near the roof seems to be the one that one day will be a tree. If the others die off?..ok..natural. In the intervening years they will help..plus they gave most of the fruit this year.

I guess the straight thin thing I'm seeing to the left of the mango tree is not the trunk. Maybe it's a stake.

Yes, it's best not to prune any of the branches off, especially before winter.

Oh!!..yes,that's a stake. For one trunk/branch that was growing more to that side. I didn't mind it. My wife was the one who insists it be staked up.

Ok, so it's a stake not one of the trunks. How thick are the trunks?

The main trunk is about 3" wide. When I planted it- it was about 3' from that studio. Then,we had work done and they built right up to the trunk. So,I notice it has a slight bend away from the porch.
I bought a huge Mango fruit at the market. Giant!..we will see if the seed is good for planting. I have one more spot- where I had the Papaya...

Being so close to the structure most likely gives it more winter-protection.

I know the large Keitt mangoes have been for sale in the markets for a couple of months. I've been eating so many. Love them! I've been starting all the seeds to see if I can get more mango plants.

I'm starting the seeds in a plastic bag wrapped in paper towels. It seems to be a good technique. I saw this technique on YouTube.

Well,people are really hooked on growing them now. The warmer climate change has made them tree's in soucal and large shrubs here..here,where before they were killed off in a few years.
I saw a vid from Arizona ,Andy,where some guy had every Mango variety I heard of..all of them. Most were in the 6-8' size and planted very close together. Some had made tree sized.
His home lot was Mangoes all round the home with a few Papaya's.

Yes, I've been watching a lot of Jake Mace gardening videos on YouTube. He has a lot of information on soil and the organisms which live in the soil and mulch, compost.

This is the guy in Arizona with the huge variety. Considering he's got inhuman heat all summer..they look perfect. I have a hard time keeping my bay area yard watered. His all look well hydrated!

Yes, his mango trees look terrific! He must have tons of mulch on the soil. Mango trees love heat! They can tolerate that intense desert heat very well, as long as they get watered.

Have you ever seen the mango trees grown under the date trees in Egypt? It's incredible! The mango trees get just a little dappled sun from the date palms. They have two crops in one field.

I read an older post on the net of a guy who says "I want to plant a Mango in Los Angeles,but the ones I see around here are huge,like old Avocado tree's". He was advised they can be pruned.
If I get one more flush this year? My Christmas present came early!

Not sure how hot it's been up there...if it's as hot as here it'll promote more growth.

It was in the low 100's today...tomorrow is suppose to be hotter. UGH!!! Too HOT!

Its been a month since the last flush. I guess,that's it until May.I don't see a swelling on buds to be one more.No midwinter Florida flushes here.

With the extreme heat (90's instead of 100's today) here being relenting, I'm guessing the mango trees will flush new growth soon. I see some swelling in my little mango tree. Last late fall my little mango tree had a little flush of growth. Sometimes I see the flush of growth after the heat waves. I know it's been hot up there, also.

We're shopping at 7pm..when we got out it was as warm as a summer day. My car thermo said 85f in the parking lot..and 80f when I got home. Imagine that on Oct. 26th. I'm all for another month of this...but it ends by the weekend.

It's pretty unusual for it to be so warm at night, right?

It's still warm here at about 10:00 pm...it's been unbelievably hot here the last 5 nights. It will cool down by Monday, though...only mid-to-upper 70's for highs next week. Yay!

The last few days,have broken records. Today might be another- not for Hayward,but some other bay area citys. Today about 84f,the record 86f.
I'm always typing record warm nowadays.

The last 4 day in San Diego County many heat records were broken. Today it was only a cool 88 degrees here. lol!
