Does anyone know what this plant is please. I think it may be a type of orchid. The plant always has three come out at a time and they have a delightful scent. It flowers for a day, and in the evening, the petals roll up and the flowers die. The next flowers come out in ~ 3 or so weeks. We have just moved from the Darwin to Victor Harbor, so there are a lot of flowers/plants in the garden that are completely new to me. Thank you

I thought Iris to begin with then looking carefully thought an orchid for the size of flower also the way the flower comes out from the leaves.

Just looked up Iris Australia and got this, Walking Iris, Neomarica gracilis. Looks very much like yours.

I think it looks a lot like Neomarica candida. N. gracilis is a little darker.

I had to look through all the Iridaceae family photos on the Pacific Bulb Society site to find it. It turns out that N. candida is native to southern Brazil and N. gracilis is native to Mexico and Costa Rica south to Brazil.
Now I need to do some research to see if the seeds are available in Europe ;)

Welcome to Goy Orsom2. The flower looks like an Iris to me but I really don't know. Give it a couple of hours and the experts on here will be sure to know.
