Mango tree pretending its summer.. (Mangifera indica (Mango))

The little tree has broken buds. Unlike temperate trees- its going to take a while before this tree can really get going. Its been a mild winter- not warm!..but mild.

The dry warm weather is initiating budding. You should have mangoes by May or June. :>))

The mango tree around the corner from me has so many big buds...it's about ready to bloom. I just noticed it yesterday. The earliest I've seen the mango trees flower here was in early January back when we had only 3.6 inches of rain for the whole season back in winter of 2002/03.

Yesterday it felt really warm at about 80 degrees here today maybe mid-80's. Wow!

We are in a sort of perpetual 62 and 42 run. Sunny. SO far even those plants that melt by now like Banana and Taro are still green.
If its like that a month from now..this would have to be near all time mildest winter. Top five at least.
Not a frost temperature in the forecast Andy- I even did light watering yesterday. At least with the cool a watering lasts much longer.

I would have though it was colder than normal up there; however, a high of 62 and low of 42 isn't too hard to take this time of year up there.

All my plants are really suffering from the lack of rain. This is the all-time recorded driest start to the rainy season in San Diego. I do hope we receive some good rains in January!

Here's the month. About right for all over the city. Winters are flatter then summer by the bay vs city/inland Hayville.

Might be 63 today! ha.

That's pretty warm for the month of December.

I think it was 83ºF where I live today, the low was 52ºF.

It won't be until February until I can report occasional sunny days in the 70's here and there. Unless, its a wet one.

I remember. :>))

It was 65 degrees when I got up this morning for work. That's really warm for this time of year. I think it's going to be in the mid-80's today for sure.

Still hazy skys..middling temps. Forecast for the week- actually pretty good for January. 60-65 highs. 65f sound optimistic, but I will hope. Even some rain on Wednesday.
So far tropicals all over town have a look I havent seen in a decade of Decembers or so. Everything- every banana leaf, perfect.

That sounds terrific! (besides the lack of rain). Yesterday was another 80ºF day here where I live. Today it's definitely cooler at only 70ºF. Tomorrow it's going to warm up again through the whole week.

The long-range forecast though mid-Jan. is for temps above normal and no rain. This is very troubling! We definitely need some rain soon.

I just cut two perfect- no tears- Ice Cream Banana leafs. The wifey is making a Filipino rice and sugar desert for New Years.
Banana's are sending out new leafs too. What a huge difference 35f makes over 32f.
New years I'll take some photos.
Have a happy New Year,Andy!

Stan,

Happy New Year! :>))

Wow! That's terrific! My bananas are not growing. They're way too dry. They typically do grow through winter (not when they're very dry, though).

It was chilly this 1st morning of 2018. The low was 45 degrees, it feels cold compared to the mid-50's we've been having for morning lows. The high is supposed to be in the low 70's.
