This is how they typically grow when mature. This palm may not grow as large in the UK? Maybe you haven't seen a mature specimen?

Thats a 3/4 centenarian for sure. They get fantastic as they age.

It's quite possibly could have been planted by Kate Sessions, and that would be around 1910. She planted many of the larger, older trees in Balboa Park.
