Mango Tree (Mangifera indica)

Mango Tree (Mangifera indica) (mangifera indica (Mango))

This is one of many large mango trees in this National City (bordering on San Diego) neighborhood. It was amazing to see so many large mango trees in one neighborhood! They were all developing flower spikes. Unfortunately, this pic was taken on the shaded side of the tree. Photo taken Jan. 29, 2018.

The trunk on that is awesome. What a magnificent tree. That probably was a fruit bought at the market in 1979 and the owner thought"Mmm, DELICIOUS,I think I will try to sprout the seed". Now,here it is.

77-79f (27C) today in the bay Andy. Record warm and warmer tomorrow.

Stan,

The trunk on this tree is at least a foot across. This tree is most likely around 50 years old. This isn't the only one...there's many in this neighborhood. I definitely want to go back an take pics. I was driving to an appointment this day, so I couldn't take pics. The trees are also flowering here. Today was another 83 to 88 degree day here (inland areas) around San Diego. It's going to be this way for at least the next couple of weeks...maybe some 90's going into to mid-next-week. It's good for tropical plants; however, horrible for the drought!

Yesterday was a record...same today. We might have hit 80f. Plants are just waking up to the warm-lol.
You know I have some 2 year old potted Pineapple tops- they look great for being outdoors the whole time. I have to take photos.
The bay area is getting more..exotic by the day.

Wow! That's great! So it's probably on par with the temps of February of 1983. I remember that year it was very mild, lot of records highs, from what I remember.

This will be a very year to put those tropical plants into the ground and get them established there.

Here the plants look like how they look in the middle of summer. It boggles my mind!!! It's usually very mild here; however, with morning lows in the upper 50's to mid-60's, it's really feeling more like summer, than winter.

81f..we set the all time Feb record. On the 3rd. No rain for 2 weeks now and maybe another 2. But,if its just a break in the rainy pattern?no harm.
I just enjoyed what was never before.

I know this weather is awesome! That's amazing you hit the all-time record high for February...it's time to put in the new tropical plants.

It was 85 degrees here today. It was only forecasted to be 78 degrees; however, when it was 80 by 10:30 a.m. I knew it was going to be HOT!

The only big concern is that San Diego has only had a little over 2 inches of rain this whole rainy season.
