I thought I had seen them growing there. It's such an extremely common plant here in the landscape. It's so widely used because of its extreme drought-tolerance.

This is the very first- other then my variegated version that grew like molasses in a pot. But,it did take the cold. So last year I planted it out.
I don't expect it Andy to ever look like these. This is sort like the Huntington's of the bay area planting.

I think you may be surprised how well it will grow up there...as long as it's not planted in too wet of conditions in winter.
It's really hardy and of course, loves the full sun.
