I ran for my camera and when I got back I could find only the stragglers...

They are a beautiful bird...and much to my surprise they are excellent flyers! Their feathers have a bronze cast and when the toms unfurl their tail feathers in the mating dance they are as striking as peacocks. Not the prettiest face in the crowd but as a whole quite lovely. with warm weather forecast for the next week or so, I hope to get a better picture to post.

I have a pic on GoY from two years ago.. tried to copy and paste but it didn't work. The photo seemed blurry... keeping an eye out...across the road. they should arrive soon!

Doing the Turkey Trot!
27 Feb, 2018
My hub is usually up at sunrise, and this morning he told me that it's either mating time or a fox was after the turkeys up the hill. He said he was surprised that I slept through it. Later there was one larger bird in our driveway all by hisself. Terry thinks it was a coup d'etat. or maybe just the ladies telling their men to get out of the nest. Still watching... will post asap.
