I wouldn't sing in this cold weather.

I wish we saw more of these lovely birds up here. They usually sing as nesting time approaches. We see all kinds of pics of the gorgeous male bird...but the tasteful, elegant female is not as often photographed. It's a joy to listen to them and the robins and house finches. There is a site on the internet of bird calls.. have you seen it?

Beautiful little bird Paul. I keep going outside and scraping the snow away so the birds can get at the food. It's been snowing for most of the day and the wind is very gusty.

I'm sure they appreciate it Linda. Keep warm & Spring will be here very soon. I see the signs everywhere! Did you see my Blue Jay pic? I think you would like this handsome chap

I love to see your bird pictures, and I just love the wildlife around. I always have done Paul. I used to drive my mother crazy as a child by taking all sorts of creepy crawlies and creatures into my bedroom at home..... a very long time ago now.

lol. You are just like me. My mom would send me and my brother off to the fish pond with our fishing rods (I think she wanted a break). But we'd come home with buckets of frogs/toads & tadpoles and and release them in the bathtub. Then there was the lightening bugs we set free in the house and the house flashed bright green & yellow all night long.

That's a great story Paul. I love the tadpoles, frogs and toads in the bath. Are the lightening bugs like our glow worms? They glow in the dark. I came home one day after visiting the local pet shop with two white mice. My neighbour made me a cage for them and mother's face was a picture. I made sure that I cleaned them out properly and I let them out in the bedroom for a run. Another time I came home with the school Guinea pig to look after during the school holidays and didn't tell mother....can you imagine how mother felt.

lol good times, yes the lightening bugs (fire flies) are just like glow worms, but with wings. I'm amazed at how such a small insect can produce a very bright light. They are quite mesmerizing for young children. My house flashed like the Las Vegas Strip for a few nights. Your mom must be a saint. I love guinea pigs, they make great pets - the gerbils are another story.

What a colourful chap. Spring seems to have gone backwards here, Paul.
