Chamaedorea ernesti-augusti - Tuna Tail Palm

Chamaedorea ernesti-augusti - Tuna Tail Palm (Chamaedorea ernesti-augusti - Tuna Tail Palm)

This is my Tuna Tail palm which I've had for quite a few years. It grows slowly and needs a lot of shade to look its best. Photo taken March 4, 2018.

Yes, the fronds are gorgeous! It's a very ornamental palm for pretty shaded areas.

It's a beautiful palm and very similar to Chamaedorea metallica (Metallic Palm), which is smaller. I have both.

It is a beauty . I ve just taken a look at the Chamaedorea metallica agree it does look very much like it.

The fronds are smaller and more shiny, though. The stature is much smaller. I have some that are almost 6' (2 m) tall. I purchased them around 1995.
