This is one of the varieties of lycopersicon esculentum. The seeds were planted three months ago, in mid-January. About 4 weeks ago the fruits began to appear. We planted next to the headquarters of the association because we can not plant in our land yet. It was a test to see if the tomatoes would withstand the cold without needing a greenhouse. So far the lowest temperatures were around 15 degrees Celsius. We are waiting for the first frosts to see the resistance to the cold. The fruits are very sweet and low acid. photo taken on March 13, 2018.

Hywel we get frost and snow. Last winter we had about 3 days snow in different weeks, once in June twice in July. The frost is worst, because it can kill the plants.

January is your warmest month isn't it? Southern hemisphere.
Porto Alegra ave. is 25C for high and 15C low. Where I am its about 20C for highs and an average low of 9C over the year.

You're right Stan, during January the temperatures can raise 36 to 40ºC in Porto Alegre. The place where I'm moving, when the house is ready, doesn't raise over 28ºC, even in summer.
