This is a pretty rare small tree. This is the first one I've ever seen and it was very happy at my friend's house. Photo taken March 25, 2018.

My friend is a horticulturist and all his plants and trees are extremely healthy.

Every day, he says.
I spend every day in my garden watering! UGH! It's dry as a bone here. No more rain for San Diego until November sometime. :>((

He has nt much of a life then which is a shame unless he is retired and it gives him some thing to do. That s along time with out rain Andy.

He said, he spends about an hour almost every day. It is quite an immaculate garden, extremely manicured! I always tell him he's got to let leaves fall on the ground because that's part of the circle of life for plants (the weeds, bugs, also).

Over here in Autumn when the leaves fall it protects and feeds the plants it also protects from ground frost and keeps it moist. I know a lot of gardeners here on tv do the same clearing leaves as soon as they fall to prevent slugs.

Yes, the leaves are there for a reason. Most people just don't understand it, unfortunately.

Your right then people mainly bin them then come spring go out and buy mulch or compost lol . I have to bin mine to be honest as the other leaves get mixed up with Sycamore seeds thousands and those leaves dont rot down quick either I still have to try and get out thousands of seeds out my garden my daughter hates them . If they were left my garden would be a forest of Sycamore trees . I do leave them till spring.

It's funny I don't typically like Sycamore trees here. However, I do love the way they grow throughout most of Europe. They look so much better than in California's dry climate. There's a California native Sycamore tree (Platanus racemosa) which grow along streams and it looks nicer.

I shall put a photo on for you of the one that over laps my garden . Its a shame they are nt as good in California . I shall take a look at the Platanus racemosa on the net does it drop helicopter seeds ?

Penny,
I'm not sure what type of seeds it has...It must be similar since they're all in the same genus.
I'll check out your photos. :>))
