Wow! That's a gorgeous flower! Most Camellia trees here start flowering in November and usually are winding down in April.

Yes, even when they flower in November sometimes they get burned by the very hot, extremely dry Santa Ana Winds.

I can imagine they do as Camelias like shade all mine are in the shade or afternoon sun.

If they're grown on the north side of a building they usually do pretty well. However, very hot, dry Santa Ana Wind season in from October through April, it overlaps winter here.

Yes north would be best would nt it cooler.
That hot dry westher must play havoc with plants there.
