Just look at those feathers and markings great photo.

I used a 18-300mm lens when it was just overhead. They were further away in the other photo.

Are they the same as the UK common buzzard ...

This is the Buteo buteo rothschildi or the Common buzzard (Azores) which is somehow different than the B.b. buteo found in the UK.
They can fly pretty low, and one day it will happen when I have my camera with the telephoto lens. This time it was at a medium distance.
