Clianthus has been a show stopped, just going over now with Allium Purple Sensation.

I m not sure it was slugs/snails denuding the middle bits. As it's evergreen I think it might have been natural leaf drop? It's in a pot at present, but seems to like this position under the window, however it will need a prune and careful tying-in to stop it covering the window.
