Bjs , it was originally about a 3 foot log so I bought a 1 foot
log ( no pot so cheaper) , cut a v joint in the original then cut the new one to match , stake at the back then tied in with wire ... kept watered all that 1st year

I lost mine in that hard winter it was a good size i could stand under it was sorry to loose it had had it about 12 years ,the summer before I had a Wren nest in it.
Must admit it never occurred to me to try a graft

How clever of you, we have a small one that has sealed over but has fronds growing around the sides of it, might try that how clever of you....

Seagrave Nurseries sell them "in log form" not potted so much cheaper, be cheeky like me as I asked for a girth size to match mine and they were happy to do so ...
