Mango madness!

Ha,I know it seems a little puny..but its grown more this spring than all of last year. I think its got rooted in now. It slept and now I hope its going to take leaps!

It looks ok to me it might be smaller than your other one but it looks healthy . Yes perhaps its now established it self and thats a good sign its growing.

We've had such cool weather the last 10 days here, it's not funny! All my plants are sulking. Although, I can't believe the mango trees are putting out new growth and a lot of blooms again. This just boggles my mind considering it's been so cool. My little mango tree wants to put flush some growth, it's been too cool for it, though. It's only put out one little flush of growth since I planted it into the ground on March 1st.

The mango tree around the corner from me is so loaded with walnut-sized fruit the whole 10 ft tree is leaning. Not sure why the people don't thin out the fruit.

One thing about them I learned? Because we get no rains..sometimes the plants panicles get spider webs. One year,I used the hose sprayer to wash the tree down while in bloom.
I found that many future little Mangoes were deleted!..big mistake. They are really weakly attached flowers.
Never again will I do that.

This little tree has flushed twice..the first was more small leafs..this second are what leaves are supposed to be like.

Once they acclimate,Mangoes take the cool well. I have to wonder though how many ordered from Florida take a few years to adapt to California?

Yes, you definitely don't want to hose down the flower panicles. This is why even in the very wet tropics mangoes don't produce much fruit, they want dry, dry, dry when flowering...once the fruit set then they don't mind the water hitting them.

I think this will be the year for your little mango tree to really grow fast. It appears to have more sun.

I did cut back the Sapote a little. It long ago reached more then I eat. Delicious though..what a waste that they dont store whole. My wife and my older cousin love them. They never knew what they were until I got them "hooked"!
I hope today is the last day of this gloom. They say low 80's Monday and Tuesday after a 73f Sunday. Today? after once again this fog evaporates by afternoon..sunny days are back.

It's amazing how much growth you can get once the mango tree has more sun.

Sapote trees produce tons of fruit...enough fruit for the whole block! lol!

The gloom here has been horrible for almost two weeks! Tomorrow it's suppose to warm back up. Yay!
