Digitalis Unidentified (Digitalis)

Start bottom left, the rosette (there are 2 plants) go top left to right, the spires sit one on top of the next, to about 3 ft. Bottom right, flower is about 1.5 cm.
I would like to believe it's D. ferruginea schischkinii.

Found an empty seed pkt of ferruginea from Thorney, but ferruginea schischkinii is quoted as having flowers the size of a human digit, these are much smaller.
Think seed is called for!

Deffo not any form of D.ferruginea. It looks a little like D.parviflora - I'm wondering if it is that or a hybrid with some of that in?

I've just found this site in my bookmarks............

Thanks Meanie, I have actually looked at this site before. It does look similar, although on mine the tiny, tiny flowers are not so densely packed. I think you could be right, I'm hoping it's longer lived than quoted.

S.parviflora is fully hardy and long lived. It also self seeds freely.

Meanie, I'm going to collect seeds, you'll be welcome to some.

Love some as it is a different form to mine (which I think is a selection called 'Milk Chocolate').
I'll soon have seed from my D.laevigata which is another hardy and properly perennial species.

Cheeky!!

It's about time that more of the lesser seen Digitalis were grown more widely.

Garden worthy to me means trouble free long lasting plants. Unfortunately this toxic.
