So far only Celadine for me has buds on it. Plastic Pink rotted and my cutting of a red Plumeria from Florida is just leafs. I grew it indoors all last year so its off to a faster start.
P.obtusa does not look very good. Its telling me to plant it- and I might. After 2 good years in a pot,its not happy.
But Andy..I wont be adding more. I tried my darndest and its just not hot enough to get them produce well in pots. Only..fair. You know, look good from July- Nov. 5 months good..7 months just sticks.

Plumerias do need heat. Mine are doing well, now. My large tree still doesn't have all its leaves yet. The weather has been cooler than normal in May and it was set back a little.

Plumeria 'Singapore' is definitely not one to grow in the ground there in the SF Bay Area, it's way too damp and cool for it. It should be brought indoors or in a warm closed patio. Plumeria 'Singapore' is extremely susceptible to black tip fungus there. I would even get it here some years during winter.

I did have very good luck with Celadine, the Rainbow-types and Samoan Fluff when I lived in Hayward. Remember: Plumeria plants, trees are really heavy feeders. They love a lot of organic matter in their soil. They also need a lot of high bloom during late summer and fall to create the latent bud which is the flower spike in spring.

Thanks! :>)) I used to have other varieties that used to do the same thing.

How strange but lucky to have them.

Penny,

The flowers fade to the lighter color.

Celadine is one of the most reliable bloomers. Samoan Fluff is another one which is very reliable, also.

Thank you for all that information Andy.
