The original didn't come through the winter, this is a replacement cutting.

HotLips and Nachvlinder have proved the most reliably hardy for me.

Depends where we have them growing....

But HotLips and Nachvlinder are getting woodier and woodier.

The woody ones are deffo hardy, mine have come through the harshest winters, I've been told you can cut the woody ones down to almost ground level in late spring, I'm too scared to do.
Amistad cuttings are easy and the way to go to keep them, I've never got one through winter outdoors, I lost black and blue too.

I cut back the Hot Lips in my neighbour's to the this Spring, and its wonderful (see earlier pic). She wanted it cut back in Autumn cause thought it was untidy, but I persuaded her, no.

Nice one.

Mine survived but it has lost some of it's vigour.
Black and Blue is hardy and S.patens came through this time. Black and Bloom croaked though but I took a cutting of that as back-up.

I really can't be bothered to keep taking cuttings each year.

They need to be special for me to bother. S.coerulea is a good 'un and blooms young so that is a keeper. But having seen 'Black and Bloom' for less than four quid I won't bother again.

I've just put an 'African Sky' next to this. Don't want to keep in a pot any longer. If it doesn't do, so be it.

That's a good one for dry conditions Siris. Been looking for seeds for a while but I've recently been told that it is sterile.
7 Jul, 2018
Have you got African Sky then? I've got several cuttings.
