I really like spider and Queen Emma lilies! They are very widely grown as landscape plants here in San Diego.

Wylie - I'm surprised as I'd have thought it ideal for your climate. Ideally the bulbs need to be 7cm plus to bloom so maybe you had small bulbs?
Delonix - I'm (mildly) surprised again as they can be thirsty when in growth.

It actually is pretty drought-tolerant when established. They tend to grow in semi-shade here because this horrible heat we have hear will burn them in full sun.

I tried this once, but it just never did anything and I have avoided it since. The one I am trying that comes from the same region is Paramongaia weberhauerii. It has leaves, maybe next year it will flower.
