Borderline hardy shrub growing up to twelve feet or more. It has insignificant fluffy, yellow flowers (like an acacia) in early summer, but I reckon it's worth growing purely for the foliage. Prune after flowering to restrict the size. Best grown in well-drained soil against a south-facing wall. Protect if temperatures drop below -5C, but takes +30C without complaint. There is a well established plant growing in Oxford Botanic Garden which is not known for its mild wintes. A form named 'Silver Service' only grows to five feet
