Rosa 'Gloria Dei'

Oh thanks M'land, I have potted them both up and put them in the cold greenhouse temporarily as I don't trust our weather right now!

M'land, only 9 degrees in the greenhouse today with not a glimpse of sunshine. I have noticed many supermarkets are selling pretty good plants for a fraction of the garden centre price.

I bought a DA Rose 'The Mayflower' for £5 (in a GC closing down sale) about 7 years ago ... fabulous perfume to it.

Certainly was ... :o)

In Italy it was called Gioia (Italian for "joy"), in Germany Gloria Dei (Latin for "glory of God") and in the US, Sweden, and Norway Peace. The rose eventually became known as Peace.

I have just bought the Peace rose and was only reading about the history of it yesterday, and Monty mentioned it also on Japanese Gardens, hope it does well for us :-))
