I love these one of mine died.

They don't last very long here, a couple of years and that's it! sadly!ಠ﹏ಠಠᴥಠ

I have one left in the long boat which I ve had for about 4 years it's against the house under the guttering which stops it getting soaked.

Perhaps that's the answer!!

I think so to keeping it covered from getting soaked with rain.
