I knew you would know Karen. It had a bit of a frosting a couple of weeks ago, that's a good idea taking the bottom branches off, I like this one, nice and bright, perfect for your golden border.

This is my favourite one, still only small, had to be rescued by OH, but now planted and seems to be fine....

My favourite is Sutherland gold it not happy here though , I'm on my third and that's not looking great, weird as the others thrive. Black Tower is nice, very dark and upright.

Southerland Gold is now doing fine, but lost the previous two!! and Black Tower is a happy plant, love the way it grows, different habit.....as you say upright, our other varieties are more sprawling.....but such wonderful shrubs...

I really like them too Dotty. I wonder why Sutherland gold dies? Had ones years ago and fine but this last 9 years not happy elders.

Looks like it Dawn. I haven’t hard pruned mine this year because its so pretty in flower. Instead, I pruned off the lower branches completely so I have a nice upright shrub. The leaves will be smaller, but I love the flowers.
