Thanks Sterra...just pure luck. There are loads of babies around now and they make quite a noise. They are very hungry so I'm putting out extra feed for them.

Its odd. We have (had?) a roost of half a million about mile from us until two years ago. This year there are very few indeed. I'm glad there are still some in Derbyushire anyway!

Lovely capture the only bird my mum would shoo away she said they would eat the lot not leaving any for other birds. Lol.

If you look close at them they reflect green and mauve in their feathers in the sunlight. Two babies have already been taken by the Sparrowhawk, but that's nature for you and she has to feed her babies,.

We have lots around too. They wake us up every morning around 5.00am, but we don't mind. The adults are such beautiful colours and the chicks are quite funny as they learn the art of balance. Sorry that you've lost some to the Sparrowhawk, but as you say, that's nature.

Hi Waddy, the babies queue up here until I go out and feed them. Some of the chicks have learnt to feed themselves but they are funny when they bathe in the bird bath. Once one starts to splash around they all want a go. I have to refill the water three times a day for them.

Yes, Linda I know what you mean. I think our bird feeding station has become the equivalent of a bird fly-by lol! They also bath in the waterfall by the pond and the noise is horrendous!

At least were looking after them Waddy.

We are Linda. It's costing me a fortune lol!

Same here Waddy, and one of the babies flew into the window this morning, so I went out there and gently picked him up and placed him on to the greenhouse. He eventually flew off. I thought that the cats might get him if I left him where he was.

We had to rescue one the other day caught up in the pea netting. After some careful work with some scissors it flew off completely unharmed thank goodness.

We did the same with a Robin Waddy, and they seem so fragile when you have hold of them.
