Karen I assume you are referring to Elsie Lee on the previous picture that is a small leafed evergreen .cannot remember seeing a dark purple dwarf but sure they must exist.I have very deep purple Rhodo large flowered type about 6 ft high think they are readily available.

I went to the big GC in Arbroath and they had one dark purple one. The label said hybrid purple....no name. I think it is Purple Splendour, a hybrid ponticum with a black spot at the centre of each flower. It only grows to 2m at most. I removed my ‘plastic’ pink camellia which gets frosted every year, and which I have never really liked, and replaced it with the Rhody. Its a healthy looking plant, so should do well. Once the flowers open I will hopefully be able to confirm the name. I don’t know of a dwarf one with true dark purple flowers though.

Brian seeing your lilac one has reminded me of how much I’d love a dark purple one. You’ve got me thinking about where I could plant one!
