Chimney pot planted up (Sedum album (Aizoum))

One of my old reclaimed chimney pots in the back garden. Planted up with sedum and succulents.
Hosta and lavender starting to emerge nicely.
Sunshine in May.

Goodness its a whopper! Succulents were a great idea - so much less watering to do for a start! What did you use in the top of the pot to hold the compost?

Novel idea,Kate…...very attractive feature.

We don't have many chimney pots here in the US. I like the shape, nice focal point.

Thanks everyone!
Sue, it’s filled with soil right up to the top almost, then it’s potting compost on top.
It’s a Victorian octagonal pot. I’ve a couple of others, another in the back garden too. The third one is in the front against the house wall.

Gosh.that must have taken a lot of soil - and a lot of work too!

It did Sue! A lot of soil...;)

I ve got bigger pots in mine Kate so they are easy to move or repot.

Thrup that sounds a better idea!

I have four all standing on slabbed areas so I don't make a mess on the slabs when I repot or add some of them as I can't clean the mess up I can just take them out and take to the potting table.

Lovely old chimney pot Kate, and nice to make use of it in your garden. We have a lot of old buildings here and they have lots of different shapes of pots.

Thanks Linda! I guess we all try a bit of repurposing when and where we can! Bet you’ve some lovely pieces!

I haven't got any chimney pots Kate, but they do look good when used in gardens. We only have a small garden now, so not many ordinary tubs around. We grow a few vegetables and have a small greenhouse. I like to cram our few flowerbeds with plants for the summer, but we live on a hill so I have to be careful not to choose anything that grows too tall because of the weather sometimes.

Sounds really lovely Linda, even with your hill. Probably makes things more interesting for you!
