Not a favourite , I'm not attracted to the stiff foliage...but decided to buy for the bees .Flowers are an interesting shape, tubular and two-liped.

I love the red monarda best because it grows tall... all the fancy new ones seem short by comparison. the red towers over the garden like fireworks. best companion I've seen is baby's breath... real fireworks! our winters are really long and cold ~I sometimes wait til Sept. or early October to change things around..it gives the plants time to get new roots down before the ground freezes in late Oct. or early Nov. It amazes me how everything packs it all into the few frost free days we have. July is often explosive...like it's been this year. I thought summer would never come. but it did...overnight!

I love monarda... especially the red Oswego Tea... I bought a purple pink two years ago and it's starting to thin out. Needs to be lifted and divided. question is: when? so much to do..
