It's just a stand of common milkweed since this is the only food they eat. Now acquiring common milkweed isn't so easy. I planted 100 seeds, and got only 5 plants. Luckily they spread by underground rhizomes.

That's true thanks for the encouragement. To loose these gems would be a huge loss.

Because I used to keep bees, I gave a talk to one of the classes in our local junior school on Friday. I really enjoyed telling them all about bee keeping.

At least you have had a few grow from all the seeds that you planted Paul, and it's good that you are trying to help the butterflies. We all need to do our bit to help the wildlife, because without the insects to pollinate our food......where would we be.
