The really waxy ones seem to be off the menu. Praying Hands is never damaged either, and it has very thick, plaintain-like leaves with strong ribs.

We are trialing a spray at the moment, not for a company!! Which so far is working, but we hadn't had any rain until today!! tomorrow is another day!!

My Patriot is always untouched. I've divided it so many times that I have patriot in about 5 places. More to be planted under trees but it hard digging not wanting to damage precious roots. I think I have a Halcyon..it looks similar to this. I bought a "collection" and the plants arrived unlabelled. I planted by guess and this is the third season and the beds are stuffed... digging to do.

I have slugs here... I see them all the time...sometimes drowned in the stream, but they don't worry my hostas..or much else for that matter. Perhaps it's the raccoons. They love to turn over rocks looking for the slugs.. yum yum! I understand hedgehogs do that? can you domesticate a hedgehog?

Hedgehogs are getting very few and far between here. I have a hedgehog house but it doesn't have an occupant. A neighbour has the hog in his garden and we have a hole under the fence so it can get to my pond

That's fantastic! puzzling little things... it always seems that the "beneficials" die out.

Hedgehogs need quite a large area in which to forage. With more and more housing in the UK, all with small gardens, their hunting areas are diminishing. Also, their method of protection when threatened, is to curl up into a ball with their spines acting as a deterrent to any predator. Unfortunately this method doesn't work very well when the predator is a motor car
