Not sure what kind. I think it's Rainbow Peperomia. Yes, I would recommend this easy care plant to anyone. Thrives on neglect, loves bright indirect light.

It needs morning sun and afternoon shade, though. If it's too hot and sunny the white variegation will be burned. The green form takes a lot more sun.

Very nice plant! Yes, it's a very easy plant to grow and pretty drought tolerant. It can be used as a ground cover, also. (here in San Diego).
