Absolutely beautiful Brian! Most of Mine are struggling. Think I’ll give them one more year....then its curtains if they don’t pick up a bit.

Brian, you realize that there are thousands of envious gardeners out there. I'd be lucky to get it to survive...never mind self seed!

Lovely Acer Brian, and to be a self seeded one too. We have several different acers and the colours are great.

Karen is the wind the problem with yours, they come up most years in the garden from fallen seed ,I find they need to be 2 years old before moving otherwise they do not survive the first winter ,root system is quite small no doubt one of the reasons so many are grafted.Lori and yet it is your national emblem.

Hi Brian! Our national emblem in Canada is the Sugar Maple or Acer saccharum. The sugar maples at my backdoor are 80 ft. tall.. a fully mature A. sach. is often closer to 100 ft. in the forest. Not quite the same tree as their Asian cousin, they give us Maple Sap and thrive in ambient temps of minus 30 C to plus 30 C. It's been great learning the "garden" around me.
