Another prairie flower. I've found it a bit chancy... In recent times I've seen it used a lot in municipal plantings. No doubt because of it's toughness. The flowers are pretty but the shrub itself can look a bit rough by the end of the season...the flowers look like little canina roses and the bloom is usually profuse. like most other prairie flowers we have a wildflower variety which is done at this point..It's not a shrub, just a perennial. Is this a Morden variety?
(Morden, Manitoba) There has been a breeding programmme there to develop hardy plants..mostly roses. (Explorer Series) and berries, apples, etc. which will thrive in our short growing season. Having said that, it will thrive in your English climate!
