8969 Hummingbird Moth in Phlox

Our Hummingbird Hawkmoth is different to this one Lori. Well done for the photo capture. We've seen more large moths this year.

Thanks Kate and Linda: I had to use the fastest shutter I had to get the image of the wings... when they are flying they're just a blurr. last evening it was getting very cool and I inadvertantly let a moth in the door when coming from the deck... I thought it was a regular moth but soon realized it was probably the same one I had photographed... looking for a warm spot overnight... He disappeared in my kitchen and I went to bed wondering where he was... This morning he's on the door...waiting to be let out! He's safely back in the flowers again. It was 8 degrees C. last night.
