Dahlia - orange

I have a dahlia that I am still waiting for it to show any signs of wanting to flower. I started it from seed early last year, put it in the ground this year, and it is now about 4' tall with huge leaves and not a single bud.

These are very old tubers but earlier this year I treated myself to a "dinner plate" size Dahlia called 'Mom's Surprise'. Well it was a surprise. One flower so far, about two inches across. Hardly dinner plate size. Maybe I got a duff tuber. It wasn't cheap either.
