Hi Sheila, they should overwinter kept frost free, just treat them as decorative Dahlias, dig them up after they've been blackened by frost, dry them off, and put them into storage frost free, all Dahlias get tubers, even bedding ones, Derek.

Hi, it's a long time since I grew bedding Dahlias, but I seem to remember them being called ''coltness hybrids'', but as I say, it's a long time ago, and as we all know, names can change.
Ff, there is {or was} a collarette Dahlia, Derek.

Derek, you're right, the name I was trying to remember is Collerette. They can be seen at any flower show in the Dahlia section, still very popular. The Coltness Gem type were short, single bloomed ,for the front of borders. I'm sure they are still around also.
