Clianthus puniceus albus

Clianthus puniceus albus

Clianthus puniceus albus flowers opening at last. I wanted to have a go at crossing red with white to see what we get.

I had a go last night but you have to open the end of that beak to do it.

Just read up on pollination, done by birds in their homeland, N.Z. Good luck Thornbird!

Thanks for that Sue!!! I've been having a go with a little paintbrush so we'll see. It's a bit like Cobaea, the cup and saucer vine. In Mexico, where it hails from, it's pollinated by bats. Now we do have a few round here but I don't think they're doing anything with my plants.

Haha, Thorney, you'll have to do the pollination yourself.
