Not really Anget. I believe something will come up when it's right place right time. I have been doing a couple of "trials" while shielding. You know, killing time. I've got Fuchsias growing in Oasis foam, lots of roots, a clematis 'Winter Beauty' that rooted nicely in perlite in a plastic cup, as did penstemem cuttings. Dorotheanus got their roots in a jug of water. I think the weather helps. I'm trying perlite and vermiculite mix now and I know rockwool is good for rooting having used some leftover from an extension once but haven't got any at the moment. I could start a trend to root stuff without any compost at all!

Trial and error is always interesting, isn't it? Years ago we inherited a derelict lean-to, a very small tatty wooden construction between house and garage. It had no roof, a door that wouldn't close and in the winter the snow and rain would come in through the roof and winds would howl through it! It had a makeshift second-hand metal window with a narrow shelf beneath. I could get any shrub seed to germinate on that shelf and got a small shrubbery's-worth of plants from it. With a greenhouse and coldframes I've NEVER had such success.
