Thanks Thorne and Kate: it's aegopodium podagraria... bishop's weed. It is lovely but it's very aggressive! I go through the beds where it's growing and rip out handfuls so it doesn't get the upper hand. It has pretty umbels of flowers but I pull them too as it doesn't need any help to self seed everywhere!

Wow! You're very brave Lori. Here in the UK it's a weed you just can't get rid of (the plain green variety). It took me years when I came here in 1993 to get rid of it.

I've only ever had the variegated aego, Thorn. and I guess I'm lucky to have room for it. I may live to regret it, though! congrats on eradicating it from your garden.
